Georgia's National Agency of Public Registry (NAPR) regularly ranks among the world's fastest property registries — the World Bank has repeatedly listed Georgia among the leaders for ease of registering property.
How registration works
- Applications are filed at a Public Service Hall, in person or through a notary.
- Standard service registers ownership within 1 business day; expedited 1-hour service is available for an extra fee.
- Required: sale contract, both parties' passports, and proof of the seller's title.
Cost and features
The state fee scales with speed — a modest amount for standard service, noticeably more for the 1-hour option. Registry data is public — anyone can look up an owner online at napr.gov.ge, which reduces fraud risk during a deal.
Practical tip
Before buying, pull a registry extract (available online) — it shows the current owner, any encumbrances, and the transaction history of the property.
