Georgia attracted $1.9 billion in foreign investments in 2025

According to the National Statistics Service of Georgia, foreign direct investment in the republic in 2025 amounted to 1.9 billion dollars. This indicator reflects a significant increase in the economic activity of foreign investors in the country and attests to the strengthening of Georgia's position as an attractive destination for capital investment in the region.

Growth of Investments and Revision of Statistics

The investment volume increased by almost 19.3% compared to the previous year. Geostat conducted a revision of statistical data for the past year and simultaneously recalculated the foreign direct investment indicators, covering the period from 2021. This made it possible to obtain a more complete and refined picture of capital inflow into the country's economy over several years.

The Role of Reinvestment in Capital Growth

A significant role in increasing the volume of investments was played by the reinvestment of profits. According to updated data, the share of reinvested funds in the total volume of foreign direct investment amounted to 82.5%. This means that most foreign companies already operating in Georgia preferred to develop their business within the country without withdrawing profits abroad.

Leading Investor Countries

By investment volume, the United Kingdom leads, having invested 426.6 million dollars in Georgia's economy. Second place is held by Azerbaijan and third is Turkey. The combined share of these three countries in the total volume of foreign direct investment exceeded 44%, which demonstrates the importance of European and regional investors for the development of the Georgian economy.

Priority Sectors of the Economy

The distribution of investments by sector shows a clear structure of economic interests of foreign capital. The largest volume of investments is directed to the financial and insurance sector — more than 633 million dollars. Significant investments also come into the real estate and trade sector, which corresponds to the information from the material's abstract.

According to Geostat, the three leading sectors — finance and insurance, real estate, and trade — together received more than half of all foreign direct investment in Georgia in 2025. This testifies to the concentration of foreign capital in services and real estate, while other sectors of the economy receive a smaller share of investment attention from foreign partners.
