The Georgian banking system continues to strengthen its positions due to growing public confidence. Deposits of the country's residents demonstrate steady growth, setting new record figures and reflecting increased financial confidence of citizens in the banking sector.
Impressive Savings Volumes
The total volume of cash deposits from Georgian residents reached 74 billion lari (more than $28 billion). Over the past year, the volume of deposits grew by an impressive 20.9%, which indicates a significant increase in population savings and an expansion of the client base of the country's banks.
Growth dynamics remain stable even in the short term. In just one month, in July, the total amount of deposits increased by 411 million lari (about $157 million), demonstrating that the pace of deposit increases maintains its intensity throughout the year.
International Confidence in Georgian Banks
Notably, the strengthening of confidence in the Georgian banking system is evident not only among the local population but also among foreign investors. Foreign depositors hold more than 11 billion lari (more than $4.2 billion) in their accounts in Georgian banks, which reflects the growing interest of the international community in the country's financial institutions.
Over the past year, the volume of foreign deposits increased by 16.2%, which, although slightly below the overall growth rate of domestic deposits, nevertheless indicates an expansion of foreign participation in the Georgian banking system and an increase in its attractiveness to international investors.
The Significance of Growth for the Market
Such dynamic growth of deposits is a sign of strengthening financial stability and confidence in the economic situation in the country. The increase in savings volumes of citizens and foreigners creates additional resources for lending to the economy and financing the development of various sectors of the economy.
